Funded Agencies

Funding and support are provided to 30 partner agencies and more than 50 programs right here in Central Alberta. Our geographic region stretches from Ponoka to Olds/Sundre and from Nordegg to Stettler.  Our partner agencies are:

Association of Communities Against Abuse is dedicated to the prevention of emotional, physical and sexual childhood abuse, and promotes safe, healthy and well-functioning children, families and communities in east Central Alberta. www.againstabuse.ca

Bashaw & District Support Services provides home support for assistance to people with disabilities or seniors still in their own homes and family wellness programs to support children from birth to 18 years of age and their families.  Website:  N/A

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe serves the youth (age 6-17) in Lacombe and District through the provision of quality one on one volunteer relationships and other related programs. www.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca/lacombe

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ponoka provides mentoring programs for children to have opportunities to experience the very real benefits of having a mentor in their lives through in school mentoring, one on one, couples and big bunch matches.  www.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca/ponoka

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Red Deer & District provides direct service to children by matching adults and children in quality mentoring relationships.  www.yvc.ca

Boys & Girls Club of Red Deer positively impacts the lives of youth through healthy relationships and quality experiences through the Kids Club programs and Camp Alexo.  www.yca.ca

NEW! Butt Ugly Anti-Tabacco Program Society  provides programming that promotes youth development, building positive social skills including leadership assets, skills in group process and facilitation, public speaking and presentation skills and the capacity to resist tobacco. www.buttugly.info

Canadian Mental Health Association promotes mental health/wellness and supports people with mental illness and brain injury through education, advocacy and community partnership.  www.redddeer.cmha.ab.ca

Canadian National Institute for the Blind – provides clients who are blind or partially sighted with not only the skills, but the knowledge and confidence to fully participate in life, coping with emotions that may become a barrier and learning to live more independently.  www.cnib.ca

Canadian Paraplegic Association – provides assistance to persons with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities to achieve independence, self-reliance and full community participation.  www.cpa-ab.org

Catholic Social Services – provides individual and family counselling sessions that deal with a variety of issues that may include but are not limited to communication, grief, depression, blended family issues, self-esteem and couples issues.  www.catholicsocialservices.ab.ca

Central Alberta AIDS Network Society (CAANS) is the local charity responsible for HIV prevention and support in Central Alberta through harm reduction, health promotion and supportive environments. www.caans.org

Central Alberta Refugee Effort Committee supports the efforts of immigrants and refugees to overcome barriers by providing coordinated services across organizations and encouraging a welcoming environment.  www.intentr.com/immigrantctr/

Central Alberta’s Safe Harbour Society for Health & Housing –serves the homeless individuals who identify the desire to actively work on their recovery from addiction, providing housing and support.  www.safeharboursociety.org

Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre (formerly known as the Crisis Centre) is the only sexual assault centre in Central Alberta serving children and adults through a continuum of services.  They provide a crisis line, counselling services, medical, police, court support and educational programming to the community.   www.cacrisiscentre.ca

Central Alberta Women’s Outreach Society supports women, Men and families experiencing domestic abuse/violence and providing program support to assist them in developing resources they need to achieve their individual goals.  www.womensoutreach.ca

NEW! Envision Children First Family Centre provides the Innisfail community with a centre offering services for children under the age of 5 accessible to all families.

Epilepsy Association provides counselling, support programs and community education to individuals affected by epilepsy in Central Alberta.  www.epilepsycalgary.com

Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre –serves to promote independent healthy lifestyles for older adults in Red Deer and the surrounding community. www.goldencircle.ca

John Howard Society of Red Deer serves men and women of Central Alberta who are or who have been involved with the criminal justice system, or those who are at risk of becoming involved with the criminal justice system.  www.jhsrd.ca

KCS (formerly known as Sylvan Lake Kindercare) operating in Sylvan Lake to provide early childhood development, early intervention, and school readiness, family supports for children/youth with developmental delays, supports for adults with disabilities, summer day camps, and work practicum for high school and college students, referral and follow up.  www.kachievementcentre.ca

NEW! Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta – Red Deer Chapter is dedicated to assisting in the education and social development of individuals with learning disabilities through programs and services that recognize, support and encourage the unique abilities of each person. www.LDRedDeer.ca

Ponoka Youth Centre Association offers nine programs for children and youth ages 6-17 years in a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.  www.ponokayouthcentre.com

Red Deer & District Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) provides Emergency Pet Safe Program which is a  safe haven for companion animals of a person in crisis they offer piece of mind for those in distress.  www.reddeerspca.com

Red Deer Community Clothing Service better known as the Clothing Bank provides clothing, bedding and housewares to anyone in need.  Website:  N/A

Red Deer Meals on Wheels delivers a hot, nutritious noon day meal to those having difficulty preparing food or those having difficulty getting out obtaining food.  www.reddeermealsonwheels.com

Rocky Youth Development Society operates as the Clearwater Boys & Girls Club and provides a safe, supportive place where children and youth can be involved in physical activity, experience art and creativity, personal and interpersonal skills, learning, play, discovery and friendships. www.clearwaterboysandgirlsclub.com

Schizophrenia Society of Alberta provides support and recovery focused programming to those living with schizophrenia and their loved ones in Red Deer and surrounding communities. www.schizophrenia.ab.ca
