Fundraising Campaign
Since 1965 United Way of Central Alberta has raised and invested more than $22 million into local communities, agencies and programs. These investments have changed lives. Today, we are well positioned and able to continue to bring positive, sustainable change to our community.
Our vision is to help those who need it the most, those who are often living in poverty, or have little or no supports. Imagine finding out your mother’s memory loss is actually a result of Alzheimer’s, or that your niece has been diagnosed with Schizophrenia, or your best friend needs marital counseling but cannot afford to go. These life-altering situations happen each and every day, and thanks to your support of United Way, agencies can provide services, outreach and assistance right here in Central Alberta.
As successful as we continue to be, we are very much aware that our region is growing at a faster pace than ever before, that resources are stretched thinner, and that the demands on everyone’s time is increasing. We need everyone in the community to respond to the ever growing need. The time to consider making a difference in the lives of someone is now.
Imagine the impact your gift could make.
2011 Campaign Cabinet Co-Chairs Sherri Smith and Lars Rogers
We are incredibly excited to take on the role of Co-Chairs for United Way of Central Alberta’s 2011 Campaign.
As Controller of Proform Concrete Services (Sherri Smith) and Director of Commercial Banking for CIBC (Lars Rogers), we are honoured to be among a growing number of leaders in business and our communities who recognize the important role we all need to play, by committing time and energy to an organization we believe in so strongly. We know that through our work and all of the other volunteers who have joined us we are continuing to help the 1 in 3 people who need our support in this community.
In fact, we think it’s safe to say that no single organization has a wider reach and greater impact in supporting the basic human needs of our community members. We know that some of our co-workers have turned to a program or service supported by United Way. Chances are when you ask around, you know someone in your workplace, social circles or your family who has used the services.
We are very proud that our workplace campaigns have grown by leaps and bounds over the years despite some difficult economic times, thanks to the passion, commitment and creativity of those who work with us. This year we’re striving even harder to explore new ways to communicate, collaborate and inspire excitement and action with our peers.
As we embark on the 2011 campaign, we will be focusing our energies on the tried and true approaches to fundraising; the workplace campaigns that create so much energy and community spirit and the thousands of people who recognize the value that an investment through United Way can bring to the community. We’ll focus on the numbers – the over 92,000 individuals who were helped through United Way last year, the 800 volunteers who make the campaign so successful and the 1 in 3 people who need our help.
This year we plan to inspire even more Central Albertans to join the movement in helping kids be all they can be, transforming poverty to possibility, and inspiring healthy people and strong communities. We believe our success will depend on our ability to build long lasting relationships and partnerships to build a strong community for tomorrow. We are confident we will succeed with the support of the community, volunteers and those of you who join the movement with us.
Thank you to each and every Central Albertan who undertakes this important journey with us.
“For a community to be great, it needs to be great for everyone!”
