11th Annual Scotch Classic
On Thursday, November 17, 2022 the United Way of Central Alberta hosted their 11th Annual Scotch Classic. Over the eleven years, this event has grown into one of Central Alberta’s premier networking events and the only scotch/whisky tasting event in our region. “This event is genuinely unique. We focus on quality scotch to provide true enthusiasts a once a year opportunity to sample and purchase product that is definitely hard to find all while raising much needed funds for United Way of Central Alberta,” shared Lars Rogers event founder and long time United Way volunteer. This year’s event featured over 40 varieties of scotch to taste as well as premium options featured only in the VIP event that kicks off the evening. Volunteer Committee members Tom Terrill and Lee Ann Waines added “Our VIP program, presented by Eagle Builders, provides unparalleled access to premium scotch as well as a presentation by our Resident Scotch Expert, David Michiels. First and foremost, it’s a lot of fun but its also a great chance to learn and expand your pallet.”
With over 200 attendees at the sold out event hosted at Holiday Inn & Suites Red Deer South, the United Way Scotch Classic presented by River Valley Properties is an important part of the United Way Central Alberta’s yearly fundraising campaign. “This year we are so incredibly proud to share that we raised over $72,000 at this year’s United Way Scotch Classic – the most dollars raised at the event to date!” said Chelsea O’Donoghue, CEO of the United Way of Central Alberta. “These funds will make a significant positive impact on our community and our ability to address our key priority areas of poverty, education and wellness. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended the event as well as our sponsors, volunteers and tasting vendors. Without you, this event would not be possible!”
