Sockey Day in Red Deer Sets New Record for Sock Donations!
Sockey Day in Red Deer has officially set a new record for sock donations, collecting a total of 6,900 pairs!
Each year, Sockey Day brings Central Albertans together to do two of our favourite things, cheer on our local hockey team and support our community! This year sock collection began with the support of our community partners, who collected pairs of new socks at their businesses across Central Alberta. Game attendees tossed socks onto the ice during the second intermission and were collected with the support of the Red Deer Minor Hockey Chiefs U13 Alpine NDT Avalanche team. This year, a record-breaking 6,900 pairs of socks were tossed and collected.
Socks will be distributed to community organizations that support families and individuals in need. Warm, dry socks are consistently one of the most‑requested items, and this community continues to step up in a big way!
We would like to thank our sponsors, community collecting partners, and volunteers for their support of Sockey Day 2026!
