May is Menstrual Health Month
May 28 is World Menstrual Health Day, and United Way Central Alberta is calling upon local communities to make a difference by breaking the cycle of period poverty with our Period Promise campaign. This May, communities, workplaces, and individuals are invited to participate in this important initiative by running a Period Promise collection campaign to gather tampons, pads, and other menstrual products and help get them to people who need them.
Workplaces are encouraged to sign United Way’s Period Promise policy, pledging to provide free menstrual products to anyone accessing their facilities. Removing barriers to menstrual products for their staff, clients, or customers.
Financial donations are also essential; they fund the purchase of menstrual products, ensuring families and individuals across Central Alberta have year-round access.
Together this May, we can make a real difference in combating period poverty through our Period Promise campaign. By working together, we can ensure barrier-free access to menstrual products, challenge stigma, and advocate for systemic change across the region. Because, regardless of background, identity, or experience, everyone should have access to essential menstrual products.
